Lynne WilsonHaving now mostly ‘retired’ from my work in Higher Education and Social Work, I am enjoying the freedom to spend more time on my photography and ‘take off’ with my camera when the fancy takes me. Developing this website has been a natural progression in pursuing my passion for photography.

I have lived in East Yorkshire for the past 12 years. During that time I have enjoyed exploring the local area, particularly around Beverley, and the Yorkshire coast, from Hornsea right up to Saltburn! I think it is always difficult as a photographer to describe your style or define your approach to capturing images. However, one thing that has remained an overwhelming passion for me is taking images of the coast. I tend to look for changing patterns, colours, or a detail that says something about the way we interact with our coastline.

Similarly, a visit to the West coast of Canada and the Rocky Mountains last year gave me the opportunity to explore that same relationship amongst the mountains, and, again some of these images can be found in the galleries.

Outer Hebrides; Husinish Beach, HarrisThe different moods of the sea and the interplay between it and the sky and horizon, always fascinate me. A recent visit to the Outer Hebrides has only served to renew and expand my enthusiasm, which anyone who has ever been there will understand, I am sure!

Portmerion, low tide

I have been selling my images for many years at local craft fairs and have had a number of photos accepted for local calendars and exhibitions, including Beverley Open Art ;  Jean Illingworth's  ‘Coastal Images’ at Bridlington Spa in 2011; the Wolds Gallery, Bainton; and the annual Viewfinder Photographic Society exhibition in Skidby. Some of my images have also appeared in tourist pamphlets and information guides in North Lincolnshire. In 2010 I was a finalist in Coast magazine’s annual photography competition with 'Low tide at Portmeirion', as seen here.

I hope you enjoy browsing the site; I would love to receive any comments so do feel free to email me, or if you wish to purchase any cards or prints, please see the details under ‘Buying Images’.

Thanks again for visiting!

Lynne
